Historian + Author + Broadcaster
On Screen
Sophie works across television and radio, from filming at historic sites and exploring archival and archaeological evidence to studio interviews and live broadcasting. She has contributed to programmes for BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky History.
History at the Source
History begins with evidence. Sophie returns to the sources — archives, archaeological sites, objects, buildings and landscapes — to investigate the past at first hand. From medieval documents to battlefields and excavations, these traces can reveal stories that cannot be seen from books alone.
Exploring Landscapes
From fell tops to roads and battlefields, places are another archive. They reveal the realities of power, war and everyday life, preserving history's layers in what was built, destroyed, abandoned, reused and reconstructed. Sophie explores landscapes where history unfolded.
Historian + Author + Broadcaster
